Air Force To Host New Mexico In 2016 At Historic Cotton Bowl Stadium

Air Force will host New Mexico on Saturday, Oct. 15, at historic Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas, during the State Fair of Texas, according to an announcement by Air Force Academy Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton. The kickoff time and television network are to be announced as part of the Mountain West's television package.

Air Force will be making its first trip to the Cotton Bowl Stadium since the 1959 Cotton Bowl against TCU, resulting in a 0-0 tie for the historic 1958 Falcons that finished 9-0-2. The Falcons will be home team in the game.

"What a remarkable opportunity for our program to play in the great state of Texas which is such a vibrant military-friendly area and home to so many solders, airman, sailors and marines. Playing in Cotton Bowl Stadium will be a memorable experience for our cadet-athletes and everyone associated with our football program. We are excited about the opportunity to engage with fans from all over the state of Texas which is such a vital recruiting area for our football program," Knowlton said.

Air Force's 2016 season still features six home games including a parent's weekend home game against Abilene Christian and visits from Georgia State and service academy-rival Navy, along with Mountain West foes Colorado State, Hawai'i and Boise State.
