Dallas Sports Commission und WFAA veranstalten 66. regionalen Buchstabierwettbewerb in Dallas

The Dallas Sports Commission is partnering with WFAA to present the 66th Annual Dallas Regional Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 9. The partnership will allow WFAA to host the Regional Spelling Bee in its downtown Dallas studios and produce an original presentation of the competition.

To qualify for the Dallas Regional Spelling Bee, contestants must be in the eighth grade or below and win their individual school bee and local county bee. These contestants represent the best of approximately 100,000 students, from more than 800 schools, across 20 North and East Texas counties.

In addition to hosting the competition, WFAA will develop a special presentation of the Dallas Regional Spelling Bee to air at a later date on WFAA+, the station's free streaming app available on Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.

"WFAA is providing an outstanding platform to recognize these extraordinary students as they compete to represent Dallas at the Scripps National Spelling Bee."

For the eighth consecutive year, the Dallas Sports Commission will advance the top two spellers from the Regional Bee to the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Both champions and a guardian will receive all-expense paid trips to the Washington D.C. area, with flights courtesy of Southwest Airlines, the official travel partner of the Dallas Regional Spelling Bee. These students will represent North and East Texas in the national competition, taking place the week of Memorial Day.
