ARLINGTON, Texas (June 14, 2026) – Supporting different cultures has become a defining feature of North Texas’ FIFA World Cup 2026™ experience. Ahead of the Netherlands’ opening match, Arlington’s Entertainment District transformed into a sea of orange as thousands of supporters participated in the internationally recognized Orange Army March.


Known for traveling in large numbers and bringing its traditions to every tournament, the Orange Army created a vibrant celebration that extended beyond the match itself. Fans dressed head-to-toe in orange gathered around the iconic double-decker bus, waving flags, singing, and capturing photos together before beginning the one-mile march toward Dallas Stadium. For many North Texas residents, it was their first opportunity to experience the energy and traditions of an international supporter group. What began as a gathering of Dutch fans quickly evolved into a community-wide celebration, reflecting the FIFA World Cup’s ability to unite people across cultures.


North Texas opened its FIFA World Cup 2026™ journey with a thrilling Group Stage match between the Netherlands and Japan, ending in a dramatic 2-2 draw that set the tone for the tournament.


After a scoreless first half, Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk broke the deadlock with a goal in the 51st minute. Japan responded seven minutes later as Keito Nakamura found the equalizer, reigniting the match. Crysencio Summerville restored the Dutch lead in the 64th minute, but Japan continued to push forward. In the 89th minute, Daichi Kamada scored the equalizer, earning Japan a hard-fought point and sending its supporters into celebration.
