Executive Update, January 2019

2019 started with a bang as the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Dallas Stars announced on New Year's Day that the 2020 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic will be held in Dallas at the historic Cotton Bowl Stadium on January 1, 2020.  The contest will mark the first NHL regular-season outdoor game for the Stars and continues the tradition the League established in 2008 of hosting a regular-season outdoor game at the onset of the new year.  It was further announced on January 25 that the Stars will be playing division-rival Nashville on January 1 at the Cotton Bowl.

The first of Dallas' annual major cheerleading events took place January 26-27 as the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) held their 39th Annual High School Nationals at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD).  Over 270 teams and more than 4,750 athletes represented 27 states to compete for national titles and prove that the work was worth it!  Cheer season in Dallas continues March 1-3 when NCA will hold their All-Star Nationals at the KBHCCD.  The largest cheer competition in the country, more than 1,300 teams and 23,400 athletes will converge on Dallas for All-Star with 44 states and 10 countries represented!
