There are many moving parts for a major sporting event that comes to Dallas.  Along with initiatives like marketing, event operations, and community outreach, it takes a small army of volunteers to make any event successful.  The NFL Draft in April required over 1,300 volunteers!  Our event volunteers are a major component of any major sporting event as they serve important functions to ensure a great experience for event attendees.

Why volunteer?  You get to take part in great sporting events like the NFL Draft and interact with sports fans from all over the country.  For college students and people looking to break into the sports industry, volunteering is the perfect way to gain experience, build your resume and network.

Shelia Barton of Killeen, Texas volunteered as a Draft Ambassador at the recent NFL Draft Experience.  She travelled nearly 2.5 hours each way for her volunteer shifts to take part in the largest NFL Draft ever. Her role for all three days was to welcome and help guests by managing event activations such as the autograph stage, clinic play fields, 40-yard dash and the NFL Museum. 

"I found out about the Draft volunteer opportunity through an email from the Dallas Sports Commission", Barton said.  "I love football and love to volunteer and meet new friends".

An event of this magnitude requires people like Shelia who go the extra mile to volunteer their time helping others. On behalf of the Dallas Sports Commission, Dallas Cowboys, and the NFL, we are grateful for all the volunteers that took part in making the 2018 NFL Draft the best one yet!
