Q: What does it take to achieve successful planning and execution of these events that you help with?

SE: The key to successful planning and execution for the events that we do is, first of all, communicating and listening to our client's needs. We need to make sure that we understand the event and are able to move forward with what it is they are wanting to do and accomplish. For example, if they are needing assistance from a hotelier side or from the event operations side, we are able to listen to those specific needs and make sure that it translates to the services that we can provide for them.

Q: To you, what does it mean to bring events to Dallas?

SE: As a native of Dallas, I am biased when it comes to this city and bringing events here. Obviously, I think that Dallas is the best and premier place to host sporting events. Outside of my own personal bias, because this is my hometown, it truly is one of the best cities that you can bring your events to, whether small or large, because of the amount of resources that we have available. Being able to be part of bringing these events here is what I love to do!

Q: Can you talk a little bit about some events that you're planning right now and how they are going?

SE: We have so many events that we are working on, but what is most unique about the Dallas Sports Commission is that we have all types of events that we service. Whether it be a large nationally known football game or a smaller festival, the DSC can accommodate, making our services really unique. One of the many events I am currently assisting is Women Leaders in College Sports. I am excited to help showcase Dallas for this meeting, opening reception and much more. The events and clients we work with vary from size and scope, making what we do very unique.

Q: Why are you passionate about what you do?

SE: At the end of the day, I love helping people accomplish their event goals and what it is that they set out to do. Anything that we can do to help in that process, anything I can do to help in that process and bring success is what brings me overall fulfillment.

Q: Your favorite Dallas sports memory was when you got to witness the Mavericks win the 2011 NBA Championship. Why is that?

SE: Just being there and being behind-the- scenes to see all the hard work and dedication that the coaching staff, players, and event staff puts into it. To hear the final buzzer and see the Mavs win that championship while standing amongst all the tens of thousands of fans to celebrate that moment with them is a memory I will never forget. It just reminds me that if you continue to push and have hard work and dedication, eventually you'll get that win.
