Built in 1979, Maverick Stadium is a 12,500-seat multi-purpose facility located on the University of Texas at Arlington campus, and serves as the home of the UT Arlington men's and women's track and field teams. UTA track team members compete on a state-of-the-art, 400-meter Polytan USA track surface, while field event participants perform in the expansive land surrounding the stadium. Each March, UTA hosts the Bobby Lane Invitational to kick off the outdoor season. In 2013, Maverick Stadium was selected as the host site of the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Maverick Stadium features spacious locker rooms, meeting rooms and a weight room for UTA track and field athletes. The stadium annually hosts the University Interscholastic League's (UIL) Regional Track and Field Championships. In addition to hosting high school football games on its FieldTurf playing surface, Maverick Stadium is a proud home to numerous events during the Texas Special Olympics Summer Games.
