Let's Bring the World Cup to Dallas #Dallas2026

NASCAR Superstar Jeff Gordon To Be Honored March 12 During Free Public Event At Dallas' Klyde Warren Park

FORT WORTH, Texas (March 3, 2015) - NASCAR superstar Jeff Gordon, who announced in January that this will be the final season of his illustrious Sprint Cup Series career, will be honored by Texas Motor Speedway, the city of Dallas and a Dallas sports great on Thursday, March 12, during a special public event at Klyde Warren Park in the Dallas Arts District.

Gordon, a four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, is scheduled to make a grand entrance at 12:30 p.m. CT in the famed No. 24 Panasonic-sponsored Chevrolet with Godwin from A&E's hit television reality show Duck Dynasty riding shotgun in the two-seater stock car. Gordon also will receive special presentations from Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage, the city of Dallas and one of the most heralded No. 24s in Dallas sports history - Everson Walls of the Dallas Cowboys.

Walls, who played eight years for the Cowboys, was a four-time NFL Pro Bowl defensive back and led the league in interceptions three times. He was named to the NFL's All-Decade Team for the 1980s and is a member of the All-Time Cowboys Team. He went on to win his only Super Bowl title with the New York Giants during the 1990 season.
Gordon also knows something about winning championships, capturing four (1995, '97, '98 and 2001) during a 23-year career in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with Hendrick Motorsports. He also owns 92 career victories, which ranks third all-time in NASCAR history, and 78 pole positions.
Following the presentations, Gordon will conduct a Q&A with the crowd followed by additional Q&A sessions with Walls and Godwin. Gordon, as well as the other special guests, also will conduct media availability sessions following their segment on the park stage.

"Jeff has been an integral part to the growth of NASCAR in our Dallas/Fort Worth area and with this being his final year of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition we wanted to give something back to his fans," Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage said. "The picturesque Klyde Warren Park and the Dallas Arts District will serve as a tremendous backdrop for his special visit. We'd like to personally thank everyone from the arts district and the city that has been instrumental in helping us bring this event to this renowned area. "

Klyde Warren Park serves as a central gathering space for Dallas and its visitors. The 5.2-acre deck park, designed by The Office of James Burnett, is an urban green space built over the recessed Woodall Rodgers Freeway between Pearl and St. Paul streets in downtown Dallas. Klyde Warren Park is a highly active space, providing daily free programming for the public ranging from yoga to book signings to outdoor concerts and films. The park is privately operated and managed by the Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation.

"On behalf of our board of directors, staff and millions of park visitors, we are honored to work with Texas Motor Speedway and the City of Dallas to host the legendary NASCAR superstar, Jeff Gordon, at Klyde Warren Park," said Tara Green, president of Klyde Warren Park. "Mr. Gordon has had a remarkable career, and we are thrilled to be a part of this event that recognizes his illustrious standing in sports history. We are looking forward to hosting one of Dallas' greats and being able to share this special memory with all of Dallas."

To celebrate the upcoming event, Texas Motor Speedway will host the Jeff Gordon Twittergraph Session that begins today on Twitter. Texas Motor Speedway is asking fans to tweet their favorite Jeff Gordon moment at Texas Motor Speedway to @jeffgordonweb and @txmotorspeedway with the hashtag #IWasThereJG.

The top tweets will be reviewed and five winners will be selected. Gordon will sign an oversized print of each tweet, have a photo taken of him signing the tweet for authentication, and a Vine video will be made by the NASCAR legend personally congratulating each winner. The week-long contest will conclude 9 a.m. CT on Tuesday, March 10.

Gordon is visiting on behalf of Texas Motor Speedway to promote the Duck Commander 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Saturday, April 11, at Texas Motor Speedway. Tickets are available for the Duck Commander 500 NASCAR doubleheader weekend, which also includes the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 XFINITY Series race on Friday, April 10, by visiting www.texasmotorspeedway.com or calling (817) 215-8500.
