Boston College and Boise State to face off in SERVPRO First Responder Bowl

DALLAS, Texas (Dec. 2, 2018) – The Boston College Eagles and Boise State Broncos have officially accepted invitations to play in the 2018 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl.

The ninth edition of the bowl game will be played Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Cotton Bowl Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. CT and the contest will be televised by air on ESPN.

"We're extremely excited to announce Boston College and Boise State as the two programs playing in the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl this year," Brant Ringler, executive director, said. "Congratulations to both the Eagles and Broncos for their terrific seasons. This promises to be an outstanding matchup at historic Cotton Bowl Stadium. Fans from both programs are in for a special time in Dallas."

Boston College (7-5, 4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) is headed to a bowl game for the 27th time in its history. The Eagles are 14-12 all time in postseason play, which includes a 36-30 victory over Maryland in the 2016 Quick Lane Bowl. It is the team's first bowl game in Texas since the 1985 Cotton Bowl.

Steve Addazio is in his sixth season at the helm of the Boston College program, and is the first coach in school annals to lead the Eagles to five bowls in the first six seasons as head coach.

Boise State (10-3, 7-1 Mountain West Conference) is headed to a bowl game for the 19th time in its history and 17th straight year. Boise State is 12-6 all-time in postseason games after a 38-28 win over Oregon at the 2017 Las Vegas Bowl. The league runner-up Broncos are ranked 25th in the final College Football Playoff Ranking.

Head coach Bryan Harsin is 52-15 (.776) in five years at the helm of the program, and has a 3-1 record in bowl games. He has directed the Broncos to double-digit wins in four of his five seasons.

This year's SERVPRO First Responder Bowl will again be televised nationally on ESPN, and will be aired in both English and Spanish on GameDay Radio.

Tickets range from $25 for a general admission seat, to $100 for a reserved lower bowl seat and $125 for a mid-field chair back seat. Tickets can be purchased through the bowl's web site at https://www.firstresponderbowl.com. Complimentary tickets are also available to first responders and their families via signup at the bowl's website. These tickets are made possible by generous underwriting from North Texas businesses and bowl corporate partners.

The 2018 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl is the ninth edition of the bowl game, formerly known as the Heart of Dallas Bowl, and part of the 89-year history of games being played at Cotton Bowl Stadium on the grounds of Dallas' Fair Park, which features 227 acres of museums, attractions, history, art and performances located in the heart of the ninth largest city in the United States.

First responders to be honored include police officers, firefighters, EMS workers, correctional officers, search and rescue, dispatchers, security guards, federal agents, border patrol agents and military personnel who have specialized training and are the first to arrive and provide assistance at the scene of an emergency.
