In 2023, two students moved on from the Dallas Regional Spelling Bee to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.
Twenty-seven students from 20 different Texas counties in the area competed for the chance to move on to the National Bee. The Dallas Sports Commission held its 65th annual Dallas Regional Spelling Bee at Booker T. Washington High School as the qualifier.
On the national level, Dallas spellers have proven to be a force to be reckoned with! Dallas spellers swept the top three spots at the 2018 Scripps National Spelling Bee, only to be topped in 2019 with three spellers, Abhijay Kodali, Rohan Raja and Sohum Sukhatankar, being crowned co-Nation Champions!
The Dallas Regional Spelling Bee is open to all public, private, charter, and home school students within the designated Dallas region to become part of the 11 million students who take part across the country every year. Go to www.dallasspellingbee.com for additional information.
